
Tom Doherty
Tom is the senior partner of the firm and was a founding member of E.A.D in 1989. He is the driving force behind the significant transformation of E.A.D. from a local to a national practice. Tom studied law at Sheffield University and joined Edwards and Co in 1978. He specialises in high-value personal injury claims, covering both employer's liability and road traffic accidents. He is highly recognised in his work for trade union's and acts exclusively for claimants.
Steve Cornforth
Steve studied at Liverpool University and the College of Law in Chester, qualifying in 1980. Steve is now based in the firm’s Trade Union Department where he specialises in occupational health cases including asbestos illnesses, deafness and work related stress. During his years as a solicitor, he has handled a number of extremely severe occupational health cases with damages in excess on £1m. Steve has been a Higher Courts Advocate since 2002 and became a Fellow of The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers in 2005. He is also a member of the Law Society’s Law Management Group and the Human Rights Lawyers Association.
Mark Johnson
Mark has acted for Trade Unions in employer’s liability and disease litigation for over 20 years. He qualified as a Legal Executive in 1990 before going back to studies and completing the legal practice course at Liverpool John Moores University in 2005 and became a solicitor. He has a particular interest in asbestos cases and upper limb disorders. He is active within the Labour party and has held office within his local Labour party and Trades Union, the GMB.
James Gratton
James comes from Merseyside and studied law in Nottingham. He qualified as a solicitor with a local trade union based practice in Liverpool city centre in 1993, becoming a partner in 1998. James specialises in claims for people injured at work and joined EAD Solicitors LLP in 2000 where he continues to work for those injured at work. James is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Beverley Gullon
Beverley graduated from Liverpool Polytechnic with a non-law degree. She completed her studies on a part-time basis while she was working, qualifying first as a legal executive and then a solicitor. She is proud to have represented trade union members for the whole of her career, working for two other trade union firms before joining EAD Solicitors LLP in 2000. She specialises in claims for members who have had accidents at work but she also handles occupational disease cases. She was made a partner in 2002 and is a member of APIL.
Paul McCarthy
Paul is a solicitor and partner in EAD Solicitors LLP and graduated from Liverpool University. Paul specialises in accident at work cases and also clinical negligence claims and sat on Lord Woolf’s committee dealing with reform of the court rules. Paul has been the President of Liverpool Law Society and is currently President of Merseyside Medico Legal Society.
Peter Kneale
Peter studied law at Hull University and qualified as a solicitor in 1989. He has specialised representing trade union members in accidents at work and industrial disease claims since 1994. He acted for one of the claimants in the Fairchild asbestos case in the Court of Appeal in 2001 and is a member of APIL.
Georgia Kay
Georgia studied law at John Moores University in Liverpool and has been with EAD Solicitors LLP since 2001. She qualified as a solicitor in November 2003 and specialises in personal injury dealing with employer liability cases. Georgia deals with a broad spectrum of matters including industrial disease claims such as noise induced deafness, vibration white finger and asbestos related injuries. Georgia is also a member of APIL.
Katy Link
Katy has been employed by the EAD Solicitors LLP since 1992 and qualified as a legal executive in 2004 having attended John Moores University and Liverpool Community College. Katy now deals with a varied personal injury case load including employers’ liability cases, road traffic accidents and criminal injuries claims for victims of crime/violent acts. Katy also represents an insurance company and their policy holders in relation to road traffic accidents.
Linda Schwartz
Linda is a senior litigation executive within the department and has been with EAD Solicitors LLP for 25 years, dealing with Union and non-Union clients. Linda deals with all aspects of accidents at work, needle stick injuries and road traffic accidents, dealing with cases involving settlements of over £100,000.00.
Nick Gaze
Nick studied law at John Moores University in Liverpool. He has worked at EAD Solicitors LLP since 1987 and qualified as a solicitor in 1996. He was made a partner in 2000. Nick relocated to Birmingham and became Managing Partner of the Birmingham office in 2004. He deals specifically with Trade Union clients and specialises in employers' liability claims, with a particular interest in industrial disease claims including asbestos related diseases, industrial deafness, Hand/Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) and upper limb work disorder claims.
Andrew Hesketh
Andrew studied law at the University of Hull and graduated in 1999. He began his training at EAD Solicitors LLP in 2000 working in the Liverpool office qualifying in 2002. In 2004 Andrew relocated to the Birmingham office as an instrumental part of the new team. Andrew acts specifically for trade unions specialising in employers liability cases, accident at work and industrial disease claims. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
Susan Wright
Susan studied law at Derby University and graduated in 1996. Susan joined EAD Solicitors LLP Birmingham in July 2004. Susan works specifically for trade union clients dealing mainly with personal injury claims.
