
Helen Barry
Helen Barry studied law at Manchester University and qualified as a solicitor in 1986. She became a partner in EAD Solicitors LLP in 1996, having previously been a partner in another Liverpool firm, and heads the Clinical Negligence Department. She is approved as a specialist by being accredited as a member of the AvMA Referral Panel and the Law Society’s Clinical Negligence Panel. She is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). Helen has a particular interest in complex and high-profile clinical negligence cases. Several of these cases have been widely reported in the local and national media, including a case involving a young woman who underwent an emergency hysterectomy at the age of 19. This case was one of the first of its kind because a claim was made to seek compensation for the costs of surrogacy. Helen has been involved in settlement of a number of brain injury cases with damages of £2 - £4 million. She is particularly well known as an expert in cases involving women’s health and has been involved in high profile ‘right to life’ cases.
Pamela Williams
Pamela Williams studied law at University College of North Wales, Aberystwyth and has been qualified as a solicitor since 1996. She specialises in Clinical Negligence claims and has a particular interest in cases involving psychiatric injury. Pamela deals with a broad spectrum of Clinical Negligence cases, but her caseload also shows focus towards gynaecological and female urological issues. Pamela has successfully conducted mediation in Clinical Negligence cases and has experience in the field of Mental Health Review Tribunal advocacy. She is approved as a specialist by being accredited as a member of the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel and is a member of the Assiciation of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
Paul McCarthy
Paul McCarthy studied law at Liverpool University and has been qualified as a solicitor since 1978. He is a partner at EAD Solicitors LLP and specialises in personal injury and clinical negligence claims, with a particular interest in spinal and orthopaedic injuries and male urology. Paul is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and approved as a specialist by being a member of the Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA) Panel and Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. Paul is the chairman of the AvMA North West Lawyers Support Group and Chief Assessor for the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. In addition he was a member of Lord Woolfe’s committee on Medical Negligence.
Graham Rowlands
Graham Rowlands studied law at Liverpool Polytechnic and gradutated in 1972. He has over 15 years experience in Clinical Negligence work and is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. Graham is a valuable member of the team providing support and assistance to clients, researching medical and legal issues and collating and preparing legal documents in preparation for trial.
Tracey Peat
Tracey Peat is a legal clerk within the department and is an integral member of the team. She supports and assists the Partners and clients and gives advice and assistance to clients in the pursuit of a complaint under the NHS complaints procedure. Tracey also helps clients deal with public organizations such as the Legal Services Commission, Healthcare Commission and the General Medical Council.
