Helen Barry

Head of the Medical Negligence Department, Helen has a particular interest in complex and high-profile clinical negligence cases, several of which have been widely reported in the local and national media. This includes a groundbreaking case involving a young woman who underwent an emergency hysterectomy at the age of 19 - one of the first where a claim was made to seek compensation for the costs of surrogacy. Helen has been involved in settlement of a number of brain injury cases with damages of £2-4 million. She is well known as an expert in cases involving women's health and has been involved in high profile 'right to life' cases.

Helen is approved as a specialist through accreditation as a member of the AvMA Referral Panel and the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel. She is also a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) with senior litigator status.

Helen studied law at Manchester University and qualified as a solicitor in 1986. She became a partner of EAD Solicitors in 1996, having previously been a partner in another Liverpool firm.
