About Stephen

Stephen Pinder is a graduate of Sheffield University and has been a solicitor continuously since 1988.  Stephen has specialised in employment law and has acted for Trade Unions, individual clients and employers in relation to many complex cases.  This has included reported cases involving:-

  • TUPE Regulations
  • Employment status
  • Pension disputes
  • Tribunal rules and procedures
  • Discrimination law
  • Industrial action and ballot law, and
  • Many more legal cases

Stephen has been a partner and head of the department at EAD since January 2000 and before that was a partner at Thompsons Solicitors.  Stephen also spent 7 years working as an Employment Tribunal Judge, being based at different Tribunal centres.  This work gave Stephen an insight into how cases are dealt with from both sides, and as well as representing clients, Stephen is also a well known trainer and guest speaker at events and conferences.

In relation to his work, Stephen adopts a practical and direct approach to his work for clients, always seeking to achieve a positive outcome.  This might involve advice and strategic work and it might involve a negotiated outcome.  Stephen has though pursued many cases to Tribunal hearings and undertakes almost all of his own advocacy, having a reputation for thorough preparation and for fighting for his clients.  This is reflected in the many successful Judgments obtained for clients on a regular basis.   Stephen deals with all types of employment disputes including dismissals, redundancies, discrimination and advice on Settlement Agreements.

Employment disputes usually involve conflict between the parties and you want someone who knows what he is doing, to give you clear advice and to be ready to fight your corner.

Greatest Professional Achievement

It is easy to pick up on the big wins, reported cases, being appointed as an Employment Judge and recovering substantial compensation, but the best result is helping individuals and groups when they are most worried, have difficult circumstances and call on us to help.

Greatest Personal Achievement

After Work

When not in the office I try to keep fit, relax, write and travel all while following my greatest passion, Everton FC!
