What is Nasal Cancer?

Cancer of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses is rare. Men are more likely than women to get it, and most patients are older than 45. There may be no symptoms at first, and later symptoms can be like those of infections.

What causes Nasal Cancer?

Smokers are more at risk of contracting nasal cancer. However, researchers have confirmed that another cause of nasal cancer can be exposure to chemicals in the workplace. Regular exposure to various substances, that are thought to cause nasal cancer, include:

  • Wood dust (particularly hard wood dust)
  • Glues
  • Formaldehyde
  • Solvents, used in furniture and shoe production
  • Nickel dust
  • Chromium dust
