Many victims of a criminal injuries are never the same again and no amount of money can change this but it can go some way to help ease the suffering.
If you have suffered from an act of criminal injury then you may be entitled to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Award. If you have been the victim of a violent crime which has resulted in injury, for example, assault, wounding or sexual offence, we can assist you in making a criminal injuries compensation claim.
At EAD we have a team of specialist criminal injuries compensation solicitors who have over 30 years experience and a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes for criminal injuries claims.
If I want to claim criminal injuries compensation should I report the incident to the police?
Your matter should be reported to the police within 48 hours of when the incident took place for investigation as the CICA are very strict and will assess the claim to be more genuine. You may also have to assist the police in a prosecution to bring the offender to justice as this is a Government attended scheme.
Is there a time limited to claim for a criminal injuries compensation award?
The application must be within 2 years of when the incident took place, although the CICA has strict criteria in some circumstances they may extend this matter for certain types of incidents, such as sexual assaults.
How will my CICA claim be calculated?
Your claim will be calculated on physical and mental injuries sustained which are graded in accordance to the CICA tariff chart of injuries. Also taken into consideration will be loss of earnings and any care and future help you may need.
If you have been a victim of criminal injuries, firstly please contact the police and seek medical advice. Any delay in reporting the incident to the Police could affect a claim for compensation. Contact us today on 0151 735 1000 for further information and guidance.
Extremely happy with the outcome of my Personal Injury Claim and can only thank Paul McCarthy and his team at EAD Solicitors and also Tim Trotman my barrister arranged by EAD, for all their work and efforts on my behalf. As such I would highly recommend EAD to anyone in need of their service. Once again thanks to all involved.
